Half Way to Brielle Day 5K

Results

Its amazing that anyone even showed up for the annual Half Way to Brielle Day 5K held on Saturday, March 13th, but a good sized crowd braved the wind and rain to compete in this event.

For the men the winner was and for the women it was in a time of 19:16 shown finishing on the right.

Among the many club finishers were: Marty Fitzpatrick (1st ag)   Wendy McKnight 23:57 (1ag), John Coulter (1ag)

Saturday, April 3, 5K, 11:00 AM,  Sgt Pat's 5k, Long Branch, NJ

The Sgt Pat's 5K Memorializes Sgt POatrick King, the Long Branch Police Officer who was tragically killed in the line of duty several years ago in Long Branch. The Race Benefits the Patrick King Memorial Scholarship Fund of  PBA Local No. 10, and Sgt. Pat King Foundation, a not-for-profit organization, dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by mental illness.

Asbury Park Boardwalk Health and Fitness Challenge

Every Sunday afternoon there is a Health and Fitness Challenge ion the Boardwalk in Asbury Park.  There is a class at 2 PM on a topic and then at 3 PM an exercise session.  Check the Brochure for more information.  March 14 the topic will be running with Tim McLoone.

The Start of this Year's E. Murray Todd Half Marathon

In 2009 the E Murray Todd Half Marathon  was cancelled due to snow and ice on the course.  In proof that things always even out this year's weather was just spectacular for the runners and spectators.  

With a large field of runners participating the men's overall winner was Craig Segal shown finishing on the left in a time of  1:08:20

 For the women it was Ann Forestiere of Livingston in a time of 1:26:39 shown finishing on the right.

Awards were presented at the conclusion of the race to overall and age group winners.

Congratulations to the Monmouth County Park System for another great event and thanks to whoever delivered the weather.

The Start of the Belmar Mile Celtic Chase

It was a perfect day for runners at the First Annual Belmar Mile Celtic Chase held on Saturday, March 6th.  With temperatures breaking near 50 degrees and a cloudless blue sky the runners started on the beach in front of the Fifth Avenue Pavilion and headed south and then back on the beach North toward the Fishing Pier and a short quarter mile on the boardwalk to the finish.

The men's winner shown finishing on the left in a time of 7:17  was James Coomber of Morganville and for the women shown finishing on the right in a time of 8:34 it was Alyssa Keleigh of Neptune City

Runners celebrated at 507 Main after the run in preparation for the Giant Belmar St Patrick's Day Parade on Sunday..

NYC Marathon Entry and Bus

New Deadline for Entry to Lottery is March 15

The NYC Marathon set for Nov 7, 2010  has a new earlier deadline for entry into the lottery to get into the NYC Marathon - March 15, 2010.  So if interested in doing the marathon this year - better get your entry in now.

Some people have received word that they got into this year's NYC Marathon.  Remember the JSRC will again be having several bus loads of runners going to the marathon.  Its the best way to get there and return comfortably. If you are already accepted - click here to register for the bus - they fill up fast so its not too early to get on board.

RunAPalooza Updates

The Half Marathon is Sold Out - Do Not Send in Applications - We do have a limited number of VIP Slots Available- If Interested - Check the Half Web Page for details.  Jersey Shore Relay Marathon still has openings but filling up fast - Teams of 5, 4, 3, 2 or 1.    If you wanted to do the half distance you can get a friend and split the relay marathon distance.  First two legs total distance is about 13 miles.

Its a great event to benefit Special Olympics New Jersey .
